Company Registration in Pakistan 2026: What It Costs and How It Works

Company registration in Pakistan costs about Rs 7,755 in SECP government fees for the smallest private limited company, and it is done online through SECP’s eZfile portal. Most guides on company registration in Pakistan still quote older numbers, such as Rs 200 for name reservation and Rs 2,000 to 5,500 for registration. Those figures are out of date.

This guide uses SECP’s Seventh Schedule of fees as read in 2026, shows the math for three common company sizes, and explains what to do before and after you file.

The short answer

  • Cost: Rs 7,755 in SECP fees for a company with authorized capital up to Rs 100,000, filed online. That is Rs 1,000 for the name, Rs 6,655 for registration and Rs 100 for the filing.
  • Minimum capital: none. SECP still charges the minimum fee as if your capital were Rs 100,000, so declaring less saves nothing.
  • People needed: two directors and two shareholders for a private limited company, or one person for a single member company (SMC). The same people can be both.
  • Time: most guides put it at 2 to 7 working days once the name is approved and documents are complete.
    • Where: the SECP eZfile portal at leap.secp.gov.pk.

Do you need company registration in Pakistan at all?

Not to start selling. A sole proprietor can trade under their own name with an individual NTN, and our NTN registration guide for online sellers covers that route. A company makes sense when you need limited liability, want to bring in partners or investors, or deal with clients and banks that expect a registered entity.

Structure People needed SECP registration Notes
Sole proprietorship 1 Not required You are personally liable. Your CNIC is your NTN
Single member company (SMC) 1 director and 1 shareholder Yes Limited liability for a solo founder
Private limited company 2 to 50 shareholders, minimum 2 directors Yes The most common choice for startups
Partnership or AOP 2 or more Different route Not covered by SECP incorporation. See our NTN guide

Non-profits and LLPs follow their own routes and are not covered here.

What company registration in Pakistan costs in 2026

SECP charges a name reservation fee, a registration fee that rises with your authorized capital, and a small filing fee. For online filing, the fee table works out like this:

Item Online fee
Name reservation Rs 1,000
Registration, authorized capital up to Rs 100,000 Rs 6,655
Each additional Rs 100,000 of authorized capital Rs 932
Application filing Rs 100

Here is what that means for three common company sizes:

Authorized capital Registration fee Name and filing Total SECP fees
Rs 100,000 Rs 6,655 Rs 1,100 Rs 7,755
Rs 500,000 Rs 10,383 Rs 1,100 Rs 11,483
Rs 1,000,000 Rs 15,043 Rs 1,100 Rs 16,143

Three things to know before you budget:

  1. Older numbers are everywhere. SECP’s own name reservation FAQ page still lists Rs 200 online, while the Seventh Schedule lists Rs 1,000. Trust the fee schedule and the calculator over a page that was written before the update.
  2. Fees rise on a schedule. The Seventh Schedule includes a yearly uplift, so check SECP’s incorporation fee calculator on the day you file.
  3. Paper filing costs more. The paper fee for the smallest company is Rs 12,100, roughly double the online fee.

These are government fees only. Service providers charge their own fee on top, and quotes vary widely, so ask exactly what is included before you pay anyone.

Documents required for company registration in Pakistan

You do not need a large paid-up amount. What you do need:

  • CNIC or NICOP for every director and shareholder. Foreign directors can be appointed with a passport.
  • A mobile number registered in each person’s own name. Every director creates an individual eZfile account using their CNIC and that number.
  • An email address for each person.
  • Up to three proposed company names.
  • Business activity and the share capital structure.
  • A registered office address in Pakistan. You can start with a correspondence address, but SECP expects the registered office within 30 days of incorporation.

You also need a Memorandum and Articles of Association. Many filers use SECP’s standard model. If your structure is unusual, get a professional to draft it.

How to register a company in Pakistan on eZfile (private limited company registration in Pakistan)

  1. Create eZfile accounts. Each director signs up at leap.secp.gov.pk with their CNIC and own mobile number.
  2. Reserve a name. Search for availability and submit up to three names. A reserved name stays valid for 60 days and costs Rs 1,000 online. If SECP finds it too close to an existing company, you will need to resubmit.
  3. Fill the incorporation form. Enter your principal business activity, authorized capital, members, directors and chief executive. Upload your documents and the Memorandum and Articles.
  4. Pay and file. Pay the registration fee and the Rs 100 filing fee, then submit.
  5. Wait for review and certificate. SECP checks the application and issues the Certificate of Incorporation. Fast-track options exist for an extra fee.

Check your reserved name against domain availability early. If you plan a website, our guide to domain registration in Pakistan shows what a .pk domain costs, so you can secure the matching address while the name is fresh.

What to do after company registration in Pakistan

  • Tax registration. SECP shares your details with FBR for an NTN, but confirm on IRIS that your company profile is active and complete. A company gets its own 7-digit NTN. If you will sell online, filer status matters, as explained in our NTN guide for online sellers.
  • Registered office. Notify SECP of the registered office address within 30 days.
  • Bank account. Banks usually ask for the Certificate of Incorporation, the Memorandum and Articles, the company NTN and a board resolution. Requirements differ by bank, so ask before you visit.
  • Annual filings. Companies must file annual returns and financial statements with SECP. Missing deadlines carries late fees.
  • Other registrations. Depending on your business, EOBI, provincial social security or sales tax registration may apply.

Taxes and compliance for a company differ from an individual’s, so speak to an accountant before your first financial year closes.

Mistakes that slow down company registration in Pakistan

  • Filing one name only. If it is too close to an existing company, you lose days.
  • A director’s mobile number is not in their own name. The eZfile account cannot be verified.
  • Declaring a very low authorized capital to save money. The minimum fee is charged anyway.
  • Letting the 60-day name reservation expire. You will pay again and start over.
  • Forgetting the registered office within 30 days.
  • Assuming incorporation covers tax. Check your FBR profile separately.

How to check if a company is registered in Pakistan

Use SECP’s online company search on its website to look up a company by name. Match the exact legal name and registration details against any contract or invoice you have, and be careful with names that are only similar. If you are dealing with a larger deal, ask for a certified copy of the Certificate of Incorporation.
