Registrars sit on top of that, and this is where cheap domains in Pakistan turn out to be less cheap than the banner says. HosterPK’s own notice shows its .pk price moving from Rs 3,899 to Rs 4,499 on the same date, and it lists .com from Rs 3,430 per year. So if you see a two-year .pk price well under Rs 4,200 today, it is either a pre-August price nobody updated or a first-term promotion. Ask what the renewal costs before you pay. How to register a .pk domain
There are two routes for domain registration in Pakistan and both end in the same place. A pk domain registration through PKNIC gives you the registry account itself, while a registrar gives you convenience.
Route 1: directly with PKNIC
- Search the name in the WHOIS tool on the PKNIC home page to confirm it is free.
- Sign up for a .pk account.
- Go to Billing, then Add Domain Credits, and load credit by card or prepaid card.
- Go to Register Domain, then Register Domains, and register the name from your credit.
PKNIC accepts credit cards, prepaid cards and cheques or bank drafts made out to PKNIC (PVT) Ltd. It does not accept cash. Prepaid cards are sold through resellers city by city. Route 2: through a registrar or reseller

Requirements for registering a .pk domain
For a normal .pk or .com.pk, domain registration in Pakistan asks for less than most people expect. What matters is the name itself:
- The name can be up to 63 characters before the extension.
- A .pk name needs at least four characters. A .com.pk name can be one character.
- It cannot start or end with a dash, and it cannot contain two dashes in a row.
- Newer .pk names cannot end with a reserved suffix such as com, net, edu or org, so something like “shopcom.pk” is refused.
- Generic dictionary words are allowed, but reserved and blocked names are not.
On documents, individuals and businesses registering an ordinary .pk domain are not asked for a company certificate at the registry level. The name is usually registered immediately on a provisional basis, without human review. PKNIC then reserves the right to review the application fully for up to 30 days. If it needs clarification and you do not reply within 15 days, the application is rejected. - Whose name is on the account. The registrant should be you or your company, not the seller.

Renewing an expired domain

Transfers are where domain registration in Pakistan gets old-fashioned. PKNIC moves a domain between accounts on paperwork:
- Company domains need a signed and stamped authorization letter from the CEO, director or head on official letterhead, naming both the current and new account IDs, plus a CNIC copy of the signatory.
- Individual domains need an affidavit on Rs 100 stamp paper, attested by an oath commissioner, plus a CNIC copy.
- Originals go by post to PKNIC in Lahore. Scans are not accepted.
